By this My Father is glorified, that you bear much fruit; so you will be My disciples.
What is probably the most asked questions at a social gathering when people meet who don’t know each other? I reckon the answer is “so, what do you do?”
What do you do?
Asking about a persons job is a time tested icebreaker. good fora couple of minutes of chit chat, double that chit chat if the question is reciprocated, “and what do you do?”
Every Christian could answer the question the exact same way, I serve the Lord Jesus Christ by working as a ……insert your role here…. Paul, a bondservant of Jesus Christ, called to be an apostle, separated to the gospel of God Romans 1:1 (NKJV) As slaves of Jesus we really have only one job in life: to serve Him. We might go to many different venues for our vocations, but ultimately we are working for Him.
What do you do?
As Christ came into the world to accomplish His Fathers will … For I have come down from heaven, not to do My own will, but the will of Him who sent Me. John 6:38 (NKJV), so we go into the world to accomplish Christ’s will. Go therefore[a] and make disciples of all the nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, teaching them to observe all things that I have commanded you; and lo, I am with you always, even to the end of the age.” Amen. Matthew 28:19-20 (NKJV), So Jesus said to them again, “Peace to you! As the Father has sent Me, I also send you.” John 20:21 (NKJV). When we work for the Lord, we accomplish two things earning our daily bread through our labour and extending the Kingdom of God by manifesting Christ’s love and values to others.
So what do you do? and how can you serve Christ today through your work.
