Welcome to Refinery Life Australia.
This week we continue our series from Psalms. The theme is “Invitations to the heart.”
Our response to these invitations will help renew the church and bring joy to hearts of believers.
Today we are talking about Let Us Worship and Bow Down.
Text
Psalm 95:6 (AMP)
6 O come, let us worship and bow down,
Let us kneel before the Lord our Maker [in reverent praise and prayer].
Scripture Reading
Psalm 95:1-7 (AMP)
Praise to the Lord, and Warning against Unbelief.
95 O come, let us sing joyfully to the Lord;
Let us shout joyfully to the rock of our salvation.
2 Let us come before His presence with a song of thanksgiving;
Let us shout joyfully to Him with songs.
3 For the Lord is a great God
And a great King above all gods,
4 In whose hand are the depths of the earth;
The peaks of the mountains are His also.
5 The sea is His, for He made it [by His command];
And His hands formed the dry land.
6 O come, let us worship and bow down,
Let us kneel before the Lord our Maker [in reverent praise and prayer].
7 For He is our God
And we are the people of His pasture and the sheep of His hand.
Today, if you will hear His voice,
Prayer
In Jesus name we pray.
Amen.
Introduction
Have you ever received an invitation to a musical program in a church?
Have you ever received an invitation to become part of a Bible study group?
Have you ever received an invitation to attend a series of evangelistic services?
In reality, all of these were an invitation to worship.
The psalmist spoke to one and all in the words of our text, extending to us an invitation to respond to the Lord with reverence and worship.
- Let us bow down and worship the Lord because of who He is.
The psalmist spoke of the Lord being our Maker, or Creator.
The Lord Jesus, before who we are to bow, is the fulfilment of Old Testament prophecy.
He is the eternal God who clothed Himself in human flesh and came to dwell here on earth among us.
We should worship Him because of who He is.
2. Let us worship Him because of what He dared to do.
- Our Lord clothed Himself in human flesh.
He was not content to remain as the eternal all powerful God.
Though invisible and intangible, He chose to become visible, tangible, and audible.
B. Our Lord loved the unlovely and showed mercy to them.
This caused Him trouble and pain, but He gave Himself to the lepers, the sick, the prostitutes, the outcasts, the publicans, and the Gentiles.
C. Our Lord took upon Himself the burden of our sin.
Jesus took our guilt and shame upon Himself and died to save a sinful, wayward race.
D. Our Lord entered the realm of death on our behalf.
3. Let us worship Him because of what He accomplished on our behalf.
- Jesus conquered death for us.
B. Jesus revealed the reality of immortality.
C. Jesus exalted women to the position they were meant to have.
D. Jesus liberated the slaves of the world.
E. Jesus uplifts the human spirit.
He is unalterably opposed to every effort or system that degrades or dehumanises humankind.
4. Let us bow down and worship Him because of what He wants to do.
- Jesus wants to give each person the gift of eternal life.
He wants to bring people into a loving relationship with Him.
B. Jesus wants to use each person in redemptive service.
He wants people to minister to and help others.
Conclusion.
With joy, love, and a desire to be completely obedient, let us bow down and worship Him.
Worship is an activity of the souls.
It is our personal response to God.
Let us worship Him in spirit and in truth.
Until next time
