Welcome to Refinery Life Australia.
The Lord’s Prayer.
Our Father in heaven, Hallowed be Your name.
Your kingdom come. Your will be done On earth as it is in heaven.
Give us this day our daily bread.
And forgive us our debts, As we forgive our debtors.
And do not lead us into temptation, But deliver us from the evil one.
For Yours is the kingdom and the power and the glory forever. Amen.”
This week we continue our study focusing on Paul’s letter to the Corinthians.
Today we are talking about Everyone’s Work Shall Be Made Manifest.
Text
1 Corinthians 3:13 NKJV
13 each one’s work will become clear; for the Day will declare it, because it will be revealed by fire; and the fire will test each one’s work, of what sort it is.
Scripture Reading
1 Corinthians 3:10-16 NKJV
10 According to the grace of God which was given to me, as a wise master builder I have laid the foundation, and another builds on it. But let each one take heed how he builds on it.
11 For no other foundation can anyone lay than that which is laid, which is Jesus Christ.
12 Now if anyone builds on this foundation with gold, silver, precious stones, wood, hay, straw,
13 each one’s work will become clear; for the Day will declare it, because it will be revealed by fire; and the fire will test each one’s work, of what sort it is.
14 If anyone’s work which he has built on it endures, he will receive a reward.
15 If anyone’s work is burned, he will suffer loss; but he himself will be saved, yet so as through fire.
16 Do you not know that you are the temple of God and that the Spirit of God dwells in you?
Prayer
In Jesus name we pray.
Amen.
Introduction
This message will develop the rather startling thought that the works of each labourer of God will be made manifest.
- The positive affirmation that every person’s work will be made manifest.
This statement is not referring to salvation, it is referring to works.
Numerous Scripture passages confirm this affirmation.
Ephesians 2:10 says, For we are His workmanship, created in Christ Jesus for good works, which God prepared beforehand that we should walk in them.
James 2:17, Thus also faith by itself, if it does not have works, is dead.
Matthew 7:16, You will know them by their fruits. Do men gather grapes from thornbushes or figs from thistles?
A person can be saved and still bear very little fruit.
Have a read of 1 Corinthians 3:15, If anyone’s work is burned, he will suffer loss; but he himself will be saved, yet so as through fire.
Zechariah spoke of Israel as “a brand plucked out of the fire, in verse 3:2, and Amos made a similar statement in Amos 4:11.
This affirmation is concerning the work of a Christian.
Different people do different types of building, Ephesians 2:20-22, having been built on the foundation of the apostles and prophets, Jesus Christ Himself being the chief cornerstone, in whom the whole building, being fitted together, grows into a holy temple in the Lord, in whom you also are being built together for a dwelling place of God in the Spirit.
In 2 Timothy 2:19 it says, Nevertheless the solid foundation of God stands, having this seal: “The Lord knows those who are His,” and, “Let everyone who names the name of Christ depart from iniquity.”
2 Corinthians 5:10, For we must all appear before the judgment seat of Christ, that each one may receive the things done in the body, according to what he has done, whether good or bad.
2. An affirmation of reward for the right kind of work.
Rewards are a prominent teaching doctrine in the New Testament.
We will be rewarded according to our works we are told in Revelation 22:12, for the Lord judges according to ones faithfulness and spirit.
Rewards are such that each person will want to work for God so as to receive God’s praise.
Each person will want to search their heart, seek the leadership of the Holy Spirit, and be diligent in determining the will of God for how God’s works will be made manifest.
Conclusion.
We need to come clean with God in regard to our works.
He desires and expects us to work for Him, and He knows what we can do.
Our rewards will be determined by the quality of out labour for God.
Until next time
