Hey everyone and welcome to Refinery Life Church.
This week we start a new series titled “The book of Colossians”
A devotional study of the Bible, chapter by chapter and verse by verse, has the potential for bringing great blessings into the lives of those who participate.
These messages from Colossians will take us from now through to the end of the year on Thursday nights.
Today we are talking about A Prayer for the Knowledge of God’s Will.
The will of God is a phrase that we use often.
Its use ranges from a statement of resignation, like “It was the will of God that this accident happened” to a statement of resolve, like, “It is the will of God that I enter the ministry.”
For most of us, it is much easier to talk about the will of God than it is to find the will of God.
As we search for God’s will in our lives and activities, we have to use the best of our spiritual faculties and perceptions as well as a great deal of prayer and much searching of the Scriptures.
It comes as no surprise, then that Paul prayed that the Colossian Christians should have a knowledge of God’s will.
Using the familiar pattern of Paul’s letters, the greeting is followed by a prayer, a prayer that these people might have a knowledge of God’s will.
That is a good prayer for us too.
