Let your conduct be without covetousness; be content with such things as you have. For He Himself has said, “I will never leave you nor forsake you.”
Never Lonely Again
Even with the many “friends” people enjoy today through social media, there is a longing for a friend, loved one, mentor, teacher, or other important person to be there for us on a constant basis away from he computer screen. But “always” is a relative term, no human friends can measure up to “always”. One day they will not be there for us.
There is another who is always definitely there. God’s Holy Spirit. The Holy Spirit is sent by God to indwell all who have a relationship with Him through faith in Jesus Christ. It is the Spirit who makes real the life of Christ in us.
But if the Spirit of Him who raised Jesus from the dead dwells in you, He who raised Christ from the dead will also give life to your mortal bodies through His Spirit who dwells in you. Romans 8:11 (NKJV)
And it is the Spirit who gives us love, joy, peace, long-suffering, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, and self control.
But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, long suffering, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, self-control. Against such there is no law. Galatians 5:22-23 (NKJV)
What more could a person want in a time of loneliness or discouragement? The Holy Spirit is also our Counselor, or Helper.
And I will pray the Father, and He will give you another [a]Helper, that He may abide with you forever— the Spirit of truth, whom the world cannot receive, because it neither sees Him nor knows Him; but you know Him, for He dwells with you and will be in you. John 14:16-17 (NKJV)
So in lonely moments, when we need comfort and counsel, the Spirit is there, never to leave us or forsake us.
If you know Christ and yet are in a lonely place, remember this, the Spirit of God is with you, never to leave.
I really want to encourage you to be diligent with your Bible study time, because God has so much more for us than we can get from just going to church once or twice a week and hearing someone else talk about the Word. When you spend time with God, your life will change in amazing ways, because God is a Redeemer. There’s nothing that’s too hard for Him, and He can make you whole, spirit, soul and body!
