A Sign From Above
Genesis 9:16 (NKJV)
16 The rainbow shall be in the cloud, and I will look on it to remember the everlasting covenant between God and every living creature of all flesh that is on the earth.”
Its appearance stops you in your tracks. You look up and see the rain and clouds roll back and the sun break through. Suddenly a rainbow fills the sky full of colour. Does it fill you with joy and excitement every time you see a rainbow? For Christians it is far more than a visual phenomenon.
Scripture tells us that the rainbow is a sign from God. After the flood that covered the earth, He sent the rainbow as His promise to Noah, his family, and all who came after that He would never again destroy the earth with a flood.
This covenant, a binding pact that God promises He will never break, still holds today. God’s promises are unchanging, they are everlasting. he is faithful to keep every covenant.
Next time you see a rainbow, stop for a moment and look up. remind yourself of the beauty of God’s mercy in your life, and the overarching ways He has forgiven and cleansed your sin. Thank Him for the sign of the rainbow, and for its message mercy and faithfulness.
I really want to encourage you to be diligent with your Bible study time, because God has so much more for us than we can get from just going to church once or twice a week and hearing someone else talk about the Word. When you spend time with God, your life will change in amazing ways, because God is a Redeemer. There’s nothing that’s too hard for Him, and He can make you whole, spirit, soul and body!
