Welcome to Refinery Life Church.
Today we are starting a new series titled “The Main Emphasis of the Inspired Writers of the Gospels.”
The books of the New Testament contain the written testimony of inspired writers who knew who Jesus was and what He was trying to accomplish in the hearts and lives of people.
This teaching series is based on the first five books of the New Testament.
Today we are talking about The Joy Of Unselfish Service.
Where the primary emphasis of the Gospel of Matthew is the Messiahship of Christ, the primary emphasis of Mark is the servanthood of Christ.
And how quickly Mark moved to the central theme!
In eight brief verses, he passed over thirty years of our Lord’s life.
In seven more verses, Mark recorded the baptism and temptation experiences of Christ.
By verse 16 Jesus was busy recruiting disciples.
Then Mark quickly moved to his first recorded act of Christ’s unselfish service.
Before Mark concluded his first chapter, he had reported four miracles and cast Christ into the role of an unselfish servant.
Jesus was perfectly cast for this role.
It required no acting or dramatics on His part, He was simply being Himself, a servant of all.
Seeing Christ through the eyes of Mark as a servant of all, we will discover the “Joy of unselfish service.”
