Hey everyone and welcome to Refinery Life Australia.
Our new sermon series is titled “The Adequacy of Jesus Christ.”
As God promised to be adequate to meet the needs of Moses and the children of Israel, so to Jesus also claimed divine adequacy.
The great “I Am’s” of the Gospel of John are the texts we will be working through for these messages.
Today we are talking about I Am The Bread of Life
Who doesn’t love the smell of freshly baked bread?
When the local bakery is baking you can smell the aroma of freshly baked goodness a long way off.
As great as freshly baked bread is, Jesus offers something even greater.
Jesus begins the “I Am” statements in John by declaring, “I Am the bread of life.”
His statement is uttered after feeding the five thousand, when they came seeking Him to feed them again.
It is here that Jesus encourages the people not only tossed food for the body, but to seek food that can satisfy their souls.
Jesus used a metaphor that we can readily understand.
In this text He speaks of how bread can satisfy, how it is sufficient, and how it provides salvation.
