And when Jesus came to the place, He looked up [a]and saw him, and said to him, “Zacchaeus, [b]make haste and come down, for today I must stay at your house.”
Pointing The Way
If you came across someone who was lost and needed help finding their way, would you offer that person a maze instead of a road map? Most of us would give the lost person detailed directions. We might draw a map. We might even offer to escort the lost person to their destination.
While Zacchaeus was in the tree, Jesus discerned his lost condition and need for direction in his life. So He stopped what He was doing to talk with Zacchaeus and took the time to personally show him the way.
To always be ready and willing to share our faith means we must first be aware that there are lost people around us. We must look for those who are wandering aimlessly through life and offer to help them find their way, even before we’re asked.
To make ourselves available to the lost may interrupt our schedule and take us out of our way. But in doing so, we tread the path already mapped out by Christ, our Saviour and our Lord, who can to seek and save the lost.
I really want to encourage you to be diligent with your Bible study time, because God has so much more for us than we can get from just going to church once or twice a week and hearing someone else talk about the Word. When you spend time with God, your life will change in amazing ways, because God is a Redeemer. There’s nothing that’s too hard for Him, and He can make you whole, spirit, soul and body!
