An Attitude Of Gratitude
1 Corinthians 1:4 (NKJV)

I thank my God always concerning you for the grace of God which was given to you by Christ Jesus,
How we love to hear words of appreciation! If you’ve ever felt taken for granted, you understand the importance of expressing appreciation to those around you. Whether its the mum who hopes to hear, “thanks for a great dinner mum” or a hard working employee who wonders if his diligence is noticed, everyone needs to hear that he or she is appreciated.
An Attitude Of Gratitude
The encouragement that comes from the expression of appreciation nurtures our souls. This attitude of gratitude is so important that Jesus told a special parable just to emphasise it.
Remember the ten lepers in Luke 17?
Ten Lepers Cleansed
11 Now it happened as He went to Jerusalem that He passed through the midst of Samaria and Galilee. 12 Then as He entered a certain village, there met Him ten men who were lepers, who stood afar off. 13 And they lifted up their voices and said, “Jesus, Master, have mercy on us!”
14 So when He saw them, He said to them, “Go, show yourselves to the priests.”And so it was that as they went, they were cleansed.
15 And one of them, when he saw that he was healed, returned, and with a loud voice glorified God, 16 and fell down on his face at His feet, giving Him thanks. And he was a Samaritan.
17 So Jesus answered and said, “Were there not ten cleansed? But where are the nine? 18 Were there not any found who returned to give glory to God except this foreigner?” 19 And He said to him, “Arise, go your way. Your faith has made you well.” Luke 17:11-17
Ten were healed but only one returned to say thank you. The one who came back to Jesus to express his gratitude is the one Jesus commends as exemplary. As you look around, you will see people in your life who have gone out of their way to invest in you, to provide for you, to be a blessing to you. Take a moment today to thank them.
