Sustained
Cast your burden on the Lord, And He shall sustain you; He shall never permit the righteous to be moved. Psalm 55:22 (NKJV)
Todays devotion comes from two little syllables sus tain. Its a word that means to support, to hold, to bear up from beneath, to bear the weight of. In Nehemiah 9:21 it says about the Israelites, Forty years You sustained them in the wilderness; They lacked nothing; Their clothes did not wear out And their feet did not swell. in Psalm 3:5 it says I lay down and slept; I awoke, for the Lord sustained me. and Davis promises sustain the generous even when sick in Psalm 41:3 The Lord will strengthen him on his bed of illness; You will sustain him on his sickbed.
Isaiah 46:4 says Even to your old age, I am He, And even to gray hairs I will carry you! I have made, and I will bear; Even I will carry, and will deliver you.
He will sustain us.
Like the giant pillars of an unshakeable bridge, the promises of God bear us up from underneath. His everlasting arms sustain us through every storm. He is our great protector and Lord, we just have to allow Him to be.
